The movie is based on the 1979 novel of the same name by Scott Spencer, and a remake of the 1981 movie of the same name with Brooke Shields.

Jade graduates from high school with an impressive college scholarship. She doesn't have any friends, as since her older brother died, she focused on studying.

David has been in love with her for years, but never spoke to her. Until one day, when she shows up with her parents at the restaurant he works at. She asks him to sign her year book, and he and his friend take her on a ride in the car of a man who was very rude to them.

The man catches them when they get back, and he makes more rude comments about Jade this time, and David punches him. All this is witnessed by her family, and her father dislikes him right away.

Her father asks Jade what she wants as a graduation gift, and she says a party (I'd never ask for such a thing!but then again,I hate parties),so she invites David right away.

Since no one shows up at her party except for David, as there's another, and she never talked to anyone in school,David calls the police complaining about the noise on the other party, so everybody from that party comes to hers.(This thing with calling the police seems to be a common theme,as David's ex calls the police on them when they enter a zoo at night, and David gets arrested, giving more reasons to her father to hate him ).

This leads to her father disliking him even more, as he finds them coming out of the closet together, and to the two of them starting to go out.

Their story might be short lived because she has to leave for a medical school summer internship .

I personally didn't like the movie, I found it boring, and the things they did, stupid. In the first scene we meet David's father, the guy is over the top, acting ridiculous, which I doubt people do in real life.

David's friend thinks it cool to break into a zoo at night, and Jade wants to go,so David goes to please her..this is from the cycle 'stupid things stupid people do', as I don't understand this kind of behavior.

Also, her brother with his girlfriend seem to be there just to fill the space.

Jade's father is obsessed with his first son, who could do no wrong, and wants his kids to excel in life and do the exact things he wants, cause it's his life they're living, don't you know, not their own!

Jade's mother likes everyone, and seems to have no personality because she just seems to exist to agree with everything Jade does, and be in awe of it.

Jade brings David into the house, after everyone goes to sleep, and their first time happens in the house ( I honestly thought they had s3x in the living room due to the fire place. Maybe it was,I don't know.)Her parents could walk in on them, not to mention this happens very fast,as always in movies, after a few days (or a week or two) of them dating (and she's 17,and a virgo)!

To me it felt the movie follows the same pattern these kind of movies do, with the stupid things they do because they are teenagers and in love, her family who don't want them together (why is it always the poor guy with the rich girl?!), the collages of their relationship moving forward, and the things escalating towards the inevitable breakup, 'cause this always has to happen in such movies,to have something suspenseful, but we know they get back together.

The actors were fine.

The soundtrack was fine, the songs were pretty good for such movies.

The movie is labeled as a thriller, but there's nothing of this sort in it. It kinda bored me, as I think, half of it, I was on my phone.

The movie is on Netflix and Netflix Basic with ads with subscription, for rent / sale on Amazon, AppleTv and Fandango at Home.

Rating : Could have been a contender !
