Psychiatrist Isaac Barr is treating Diana who has this obsession of doing the same things over and over again,to the point she ends up late at work. She tells him about a dream with flowers she keeps on having. She tells him her sister, Heather, knows more about what happened to her or her family,than she can tell him. Isaac finally agrees to meet her. And falls in love with her. Problem is, Heather is married.

That doesn't stop them, as they start having an affair right away. Heather tells Isaac her husband is abusive, and we see her not necessarily being afraid of him, but not wanting to do whatever he asks her.

Heather can't drink, as whenever she does,she goes mad.

One night she drinks cough syrup and k1lls her husband.

Isaac asks his friends to help her, and manage to put her in a mental institution instead of a prison,and Heather is eager to get out.

While at a lecture, he hears about Freud's patient's dream of arranging flowers, the same one Diana kept on talking about,and remembers a bailiff recognized her when she was trailed. Talking to him again,Isaac realizes both sisters told him lies,and played him,as Heather was at every trail he testified as an expert witness.

 

The movie has a good plot, keeps you guessing. It starts as a romance between two people who can't be together, making us believe they both have genuine feelings for each other, and turns into a thriller in which one side planned carefully every step of the game,so things would end up their way.

The actors were great. Kim Basinger was beautiful,her character,devious and deranged. Thinking of Heather,it makes you wonder if it was all an act,a show she put for the lead, to catch him,and how much of Heather we really saw on screen. Maybe her husband wasn't bad at all,maybe he was reacting to her being a b1tch. And she was always in control of everything.

Richard Gere's character is the fool who gets played by the beautiful woman he falls in love with,this incident probably scaring him into never falling in love again.

Uma Thurman is the shy little sister,who does her older and more beautiful,sister's bidding, almost wanting to be her, in love with her psychiatrist,who is in love with her sister (the way her sister wanted ), whom she actually convinced to meet! So it's probably that guilt too, that it's all her fault ,she pushed him into her arms!

The soundtrack was exactly like the soundtracks of the old Neo Noir movies.

 

I think it might have a visual effect at the end,with a fall,and it looks good.
