Ted Crawford is a genius in his field, who is suspecting his wife of having an affair. He follows her to the hotel she is meeting her lover at, and when she gets home,he shoots her.
After he cleans up and burns the clothes he had on when he shot her, he is patiently waiting for the police his gardener called after he heard the shots.
When the police arrive at the scene we see the man his wife is having an affair with,is the detective.
The police charge him and they even take his confession.
Willy Beachum is a top notch prosecutor, who's never lost a case because when he realized he would,he always gave the case to someone else. As he put it,he doesn't like to lose.
He gets a job with a private law firm, but his old boss asks him to take Crawford's case,as he still works at the previous firm. He is told is an open and shut case,as the defendant is representing himself in court, after he k!lled his wife.
For the trial, Crawford asks Beachum to take the case against him,and Beachum accepts.
Although at first, Crawford seems stupid,he starts switching the game on the prosecutor,as he seems to know the law well, and use it in his favor.
Also, the prosecutor's team can't find the gun he shot his wife with.
Beachum is trying to solve the mystery (against everyone's advice,I might add) and keep Crawford behind bars, but this puts a strain on his new relationship with his boss from the private law firm, and the private law firm, who want him gone.
The movie was well put together,I liked the way it was shot, the colors..the suspense kept me intrigued and watching,as the prosecutor's team not finding the gun made me wonder where it was.I honestly thought he used the detective's gun (which he did ) trying to incriminate him,but apparently that wasn't the end game.
The movie reminded me of the movies made in that era, like Suburbia, which had these beautiful colors which remind me of the sunset.
The actors were great, especially Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling.
The soundtrack was Ok.
Fracture got positive reviews from critics, and grossed 92 million dollars against a budget of 10 million.
The movie is for free on Hoopla, for rent / sale on Amazon, AppleTv, Fandango at Home.
Rating : Worth a watch !
