Sam and Molly move in together,in this big and beautiful apartment. They have a best friend who is at their place a lot. Sam also works with him at the bank.
One night, coming home from the theater, the two are attacked by a man with a gun who wants Sam's wallet. Fighting him off,Sam realizes he was k1lled,and a portal opens for him,as heavenly light shines down. Sam refuses to go,as he sees Molly crying.
Staying around her,he notices one day, when she was out with their best friend, the same man who k1lled him enters their home, looking for something. Molly comes back home,Sam scares the cat,so the thief flees, and Sam decides to follow him. He follows him home, and in his neighborhood,he finds Oda Mae Brown, a psychic.
The woman is scared when she first hears him,as she was just pretending to have the gift. Sam tells her he'll leave her alone if she talks to Molly. Oda Mae does, but Molly doesn't believe her. Molly also has their best friend, Carl, in her ear, whispering to her Oda Mae is a fake.
Sam discovers Carl was the one who put the mugger on their tracks,as he wanted his book of bank passwords (..why would anyone carry that with them around anywhere they go?! ) and everything changes.
This is one of the movies I watched a lot as a kid, being one of my favorites. The movie makes me laugh, sometimes with tears, like when Sam sings 'Henry the VIII, I am',or cry, like when he dies and Molly suffers though his loss(mostly at the end, when he gets to touch her through Oda Mae,or when she sees him when he is ascending).
The acting was good,I was impressed by Tony Goldwyn when he was desperate and couldn't find "his" money.
The visual effects are good, they still look good today!
I didn't like the soundtrack that much, but I love the song by the Righteous Brothers ever since I first heard it in the movie,as a kid,the song is a timeless classic!
