The movie is a remake of the 1984 movie ,this time made with an all female cast.

Erin is a professor at the Columbia University,where she pretends to like everything other people likes,just to be liked,and hoping to advance her career. That dream is shattered,as the book she wrote with her childhood friend is posted on Amazon,by her childhood friend,who works for the Kenneth P. Higgins Institute of Science in New York.

Her childhood friend, Abby,still works on devices trying to prove the existence of ghosts,while Erin is doing her best for no one to find out she ever wrote such a book.

They are hired by the owners of a haunted mansion to investigate what's happening,after finding their book online. Although reluctant,Erin goes with Abby and her partner, Jillian, to the said haunted mansion. And discover it's real,a ghost is haunting it.

 

After the film of the haunting is posted online, Erin is fired from her job,and her boyfriend pretends he doesn't know her.

She starts working with the two ladies,and hire a secretary in the shape of Chris Hemsworth,who is a bit slow,but pretty to look at.

Patty,who works at the subway,finds the girls as she saw a ghost at the subway. She convinces them to let her join their group,as she has a car,borrowed from her uncle.

They start answering calls about ghost hauntings,and as they start to solve them,the mayor meets them to tell them he approves,but publicly,he will deny everything.

The original cast of the movie appears here and there ,as cameos,and there's even a cameo from Ozzy Osbourne.

The movie has a few vulgar jokes at the beginning,which I found off putting, but then it cleans up.

I personally liked the movie, I laughed the whole time,mostly with tears,Melissa McCarthy always is a win for me,she always makes me laugh with tears.

 

The visual effects were good,I loved them,I loved the way they made the ghosts look,as if balloons or made of fabric or something!

The actors were all good,their acting was fluid,they bounce lines off each other easily,smoothly.

Karan Soni,who plays Dopinder in Deadpool,(whom I love,as he's so funny!) plays the guy who never brings Abby the food she wants,as they have beef.

Kate McKinnon is pretty much playing herself by now.

The soundtrack was good,I loved it at the climax of the movie SPOILER with ghosts invading the city.

The movie received mostly positive reviews, Cinema Score audiences giving it a B+, on an A+ to F scale.

The movie grossed 229 million dollars against a budget of 144 million, being a box office flop with 70 million loses for the studio, as the movie needed at least 300 million dollars to break even.
