Glass Onion : A Knives Out Mystery

The movie is a standalone sequel to the 2019 movie 'Knives Out', and a prequel to the Wake Up Deadman which is set to be released in 2025.

 

During the plandemic which shan't be named, Miles Bron, the co-founder of the Alpha tech company, hosts a murder mystery game on his private island in Greece,at his Glass Onion mansion, named after the bar he and his friends used to hang out at before he got rich and famous.

 

The guests are his friends (he backstabbed at some point in time) he calls 'the disruptors' : his Alpha head scientist, Lionel, Connecticut governor Claire, a very controversial model turned fashion icon and designer ,Birdie Jay (my favorite), men's rights streamer Duke, and Alpha co-founder, Cassandra, called Andi, whom Miles pushed out of the company!

 

The invitation was a puzzle wooden box to decipher to find the invite inside. His 'friends' decipher it,while Andi smashes it with a hammer.

 

They all travel to the billionaire's private island, Duke accompanied by his girlfriend, Whiskey, and Birdie's assistant, Peg.

Famous detective Benoit Blanc joins them, claiming he's been invited, while Miles tells him he didn't invite him, but allows him to stay.

 

Before dinner, Miles shows them his glass collection and the Mona Lisa he got from the Louvre as France needed money, and tells them his mansion is powered by Klear, a hydrogen based alternative fuel that Alpha will soon put on the market, despite Lionel and Claire's warnings that it's dangerous, and the reason Andi left the company,and was cut out by Miles.

 

The detective solves Miles' murder mystery,and tells him all his guests have reasons to k1ll him. But what if this is not all as it seems? What if some of them are not who they say they are, and what if this is all a sham, and the reason they're all there holds a darker motive?

 

The movie started out well, I really liked the first part with the invite, it was funny, but then, when they introduced the plandemic, they started losing me (it reminds me of how Hollywood was allowed to make movies, as they were so important, but the rest of us weren't allowed to leave the house).Whenever I see people with masks on they lose me, they also lose me with the climate change and other political topics.

 

The movie received a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Oscars,but it kinda bored me.

 

The acting was good, I loved Kate Hudson and her outfits. Serena Williams, Ethan Hawke and Hugh Grant make a cameo appearance.

 

The soundtrack was jazzy, and also sounded like the music of the old movies, if I recall correctly, and I didn't like it.
