The television play is based on Elie Wiesel's play, 'The trial of God'.The writer said it's based on actual facts.

The movie opens with visitors at the Memorial Museum Auschwitz. The people talk about what happened in the past to a group of Jewish people,who put God on trial in absentia, for abandoning them.

We are taken back, to World War II, where Jewish prisoners are stripped naked, checked and selected for something (later on,we find out they were selected to die).

After, in the barrack, some of them start asking why God is letting this happen to them. What did they do?What's their sin?

This leads to them asking why does God allow evil, and if there's such a thing as free will, where's their free will,when they're kept imprisoned against their own will,forced to do what they're told.

Some of them,true believers, take God's side, but are met with resistance from the ones who want answers for their pain and sufferance. The true believers even say that when a major event like this happened something good came out of it. The opposition disagrees,where's the good in torturing innocents,taking kids away from their parents,putting innocent people in camps?

A rabbi takes the stand and talks about God's punishments against Israel's enemies,who instead of punishing the guilty,like the pharaoh, God punished the first born of the land,including the first born of the slaves. Their conclusion is God is not good,just on their side,and maybe now it switched sides.

I personally enjoyed the movie, as the characters ask pertinent questions which make you think of them and the movie long after the movie ended. The movie almost felt like a documentary, as the things they said made sense, and kept me interested in the conversation. What the characters went through also made sense as to why the characters would put God into question, and why the horrors they went through would shake someone's belief system. Because if God is all powerful,all knowing, and on your side, why would It allow this to happen?!

The actors were good.

 

The soundtrack is barely there,as the music is mostly silent,which fits the movie perfectly.
