Jill is using all her free time, searching through Forest Park, trying to prove to the police she really was kidnapped by a serial k1ller, the year before, and escaped his den (a hole in the ground filled with his victims’ remains).

Her sister, Molly, is trying to make her date again, but she doesn’t feel ready. She goes to a self defense class, and to work at a diner, and takes her sister’s car, as Molly’s car was blocking Jill’s. She calls Molly to tell her she’s taking her advice to start dating again, and her sister is asking her to wake her up in the morning, when she’s coming home from work.

Molly has an exam the very next day, and refuses her boyfriend who is asking her to spend time together.

When Jill gets home, at 6 o’clock in the morning, Molly is nowhere to be found. She checks the closets to see if any of her clothes are missing, calls her, leaving a message, and finds the earring she was wearing on the floor.

Jill goes to the police, and tells sergeant Powers and 3 other detectives, the man who kidnapped her took her sister. She tells them everything she noticed around the house, and how nothing is missing, meaning she left in her pajamas. The police is trying to tear down her case, saying she’s crazy (they had her institutionalized after she escaped the kidnapper’s hold, making her think she’s crazy, and now has to take pills ). The police tells her to call them if she hears from Molly, for they’ll do nothing about it until Monday (it’s Friday), for they think she just left, and she’s somewhere with some guy, partying, for “adults have the right to disappear” .

Molly’s boyfriend calls her telling her Molly is not with him. The police talk behind her back, how it’s all in her head, the kidnapper is not real, for she was on suicide watch after her parents died, a few years back.

Talking to Molly’s boyfriend, he asks her if she’s sure Molly didn’t go out drinking, as she has a history of alcohol abuse.

Jill starts investigating on her own, by asking her neighbours if they saw or heard anything. She asks one neighbour, who directs her to another neighbour, who can’t sleep since his wife died, and he tells her about a blue and gray locksmith van parked in front of her house, in the middle of the night.

Jill researches the blue and gray van, and finds the address of the locksmith offices.

When talking to the owner he tells her he doesn’t know anything, and going through the van, she finds a receipt which makes her think the kidnapper took that van. When pressing one of the employees about it, he tells her he rented the van to a tall man who said his name was Digger, that night.

The owner calls the police about her, and complains about her pulling a gun on them.

Jill calls the sergeant who’s had enough of her asking him to do his job, and he finds out she was at the locksmith’s.

Another detective seems to want to help her, but I honestly don’t know if he was lying to her or not.

The lieutenant is asking the sergeant to bring Jill in, as owning a gun with her mental problems, if she k1lls someone it’s on them.

Molly’s boyfriend calls Jill to tell her Molly missed her exam, and that some other guy missed it too, so he thinks they might be together, because the guy hit on her.

Jill goes to the store the receipt is from, and gets more information about where Digger lives. While she’s there, the police gets there, finding her car.

She asks to use the restroom seeing the police going through her car, and gets out through the small window, while they break down the bathroom door.

Jill manages to escape them, and goes to see the guy Molly’s boyfriend told her about. She’s not with him.

On the bus, she gets a reminder about taking her pills, and she stops taking them, for she knows she’s not crazy.

Jill goes to the address the store owner told her she could find Digger, and asking a man on the street about the car the store owner told her about, she finds out Digger’s name is Jim LaPointe. She only finds a matchbox from her diner at his place, and she realizes it’s the man she served that night, who’s a regular who usually sits in her friend’s,Sharon, station.

The janitor walks in on her, and he tells her Jim left, telling him he has some unfinished business, after which he’ll move up North. She rents his car, and goes to see Sharon.

Her shrink calls her asking her to go see her, having the police in the next room, telling her the police don’t think her kidnapper exists.

Talking to Sharon, she gives her his phone number, and her car keys.

Jill calls him, and he tells her he has no idea who she is, but she can visit him in the forest.

I personally enjoyed the movie.

Jill was on her own, nobody helped her, not even her sister’s boyfriend. Nobody believed her, from the getgo, labeling her crazy. Instead of helping her, trying to find her sister, the police was ridiculing her, and trying to get her for hearing she had a gun!

The police were ridiculous and annoying, they put all their energy and time into finding her, instead of finding her sister or the kidnapper! All that manpower they wasted on Jill, they could have put to good use to do their job, and find the victims! They kept on trying to gaslight Jill, playing mind games with her, to make her think people think her crazy, don’t like her (they tried to make her believe her sister can’t stand her, and she only moved in with her because they told her to. SPOILER The way her sister reacts at the end towards the police shows us they lied about her, and that Molly was on her side), or that she is downright crazy.
