The movie is based on the 2012 novel by Gillian Flynn, who also wrote the script.

On their 5th wedding anniversary, Nick comes home to find his wife is missing.

His wife was famous for being her parents' inspiration for a series of children's books,Amazing Amy,which Amy hated for whatever she was or got in the books, she never was or had in real life.Due to her fame, the press got involved in the case.

Nick is very close to his twin sister, so close, they are best friends, spending a lot of time together. He tells her everything except for one thing, the fact he has been cheating on his wife for more than a year, and was planning to leave her for his 20 year old girlfriend, who was one of his students.

Amy's version of the story is told through her diary, portraying a beautiful love story in the beginning, turning sour in the recession, with tales of Nick being violent with her, until...we find her alive and well, faking her own death as punishment for her husband cheating on her, meaning the diary was forged also.

The detectives assigned to the case think he k1lled her, as they found her blood in the house and on certain objects, and arrest him.

Nick hires a very expensive but good, lawyer, trying to prove his innocence.

Most of the characters are unlikeable. Nick because he is cheating, Amy because of what she's doing, not just to Nick, but what she did to her exes (she's definitely a psychopath or something),others, like a woman Amy befriends while in hiding, because she is robbing her while pretending to be her friend..

To be honest most of Gillian Flynn's characters are like this. I actually read one of her books,Sharp Objects, and promised myself never again, as it was very dark and vulgar. It seems this is what she writes about, this is what she's drawn to.

In the movie we keep on seeing the calendar which says 2012...

The movie is shot in the David Fincher style,as his movies are on certain colors, they have a certain hue, they look polished.

The actors were great, especially Rosamund Pike. Ben Affleck was the only one I felt didn't give 100% ,as he looked at times like he was about to start laughing (like he couldn't keep a straight face).

The soundtrack written by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross was great, matching the visuals, sounding so..organic and unnerving.

Viewer discretion is advised,as the movie contains male full frontal nudity from Ben Affleck, and violence .

The movie received positive reviews from critics, with Cinema Score audiences giving the movie a B on an A+ to F scale.

It grossed 370 million dollars against a budget of 61 million, being the director's highest grossing movie.

Rosamund Pike received many award nominations starting with Screen Actors Guild, Critics' Choice and ending with the Golden Globes and Oscars! The movie received 4 Golden Globes nominations, including Best Director and Best Screenplay, while the soundtrack, which was also nominated for a Golden Globe, was also nominated for the Best Score Soundtrack at the Grammy Awards!
