Based on the creators' words(Rodriguez and Tarantino), the movie is a tribute to the old(70's-80's) low budget horror movies.

The movie is a double feature, under the main title 'Grindhouse' being paired with Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof.

The movie is written, directed, edited and produced by Robert Rodriguez.

Cherry Darling, a go go dancer, quits her job,as she feels she wasted her life, her dream as a kid being to become a doctor.

Dr. Dakota Block is preparing to leave her husband, and talks in codes with the one who is helping her escape the marriage.

That very night a military operation goes wrong, and a toxic gas turns the people of the town into zombies.

The same military convoy almost runs Cherry over, and she hurts her leg,as a large splinter cuts it.

At the local diner which lacks customers, Cherry meets her old flame, and leave together,as she needs a ride.

That very night,at the hospital, people keep on showing up with fresh bite wounds doctors say look 14 days old.

After a car accident,Cherry is taken by a pack,of what seem to be people, who are taking her leg. At the hospital Cherry finds out she's missing a leg.

The police is taking Wray, her old flame, into custody, thinking him responsible.

Her old flame escapes, after the police station is being attacked by zombies, and goes to the hospital to rescue her, as most of the people of the town are raging zombies now.

The few people who are immune to the toxic gas band together to fight the zombies.

Some of the characters have their quirks, like Josh Brolin's,always with a thermometer in his mouth. And their obsessions, like Jeff Fahey's obsession with creating the perfect sauce, which was funny, and Josh Brolin's obsession with his wife, and taking his own temperature,Michael Biehn's obsession with his brother's recipe, and Naveen Andrews character's obsession with taking the testicles of the men who wronged him.

The film was tampered with to make it look old,a tribute to the old movies Robert Rodriguez and his friend,Quentin Tarantino, watched growing up,and loved.

I liked how the movie was shot, the angles, like for example,in one of the first scenes, the camera films from under Rose McGowan's body,as she's dancing. I also loved how the transition was made from scene to scene.

The movie is shot in brown, green, khaki colors,as if to suggest, maybe a world in decay,or just an old movie.

Other than that, I found the blood and gore too much.

The movie features a trailer for the Machete movie, made in the old style, with the voice over, which I love.

The movie mentions a character from the other Grindhouse movie,Death Proof, Jungle Julia, which suggests the order they should be watched in.

The acting was so and so, I loved Jeff Fahey, Josh Brolin, Marley Shelton and Bruce Willis. I honestly believe the director asked the actors to act bad in certain scenes, like in the old horror movies he enjoyed watching.

I liked the soundtrack, which was created by Robert Rodriguez!

Viewer discretion is advised,as the movie contains explicit language and some nudity.

The movie is streaming on Tubi, and is for rent /sale on Amazon Video, Apple Tv, DirecTv, Google Play Movies, Redbox, Vudu, YouTube.

Rating : Worth a watch !
