The movie is based on the 1959 movie of the same name, starring Vincent Price.

The bitter wife of a millionaire who owns theme parks and loves gore, decides to have her birthday party at a house which used to be a former insane asylum, which is rumored to be haunted by the souls of the ones who burnt alive there. She makes a list with the people she wants invited, but her husband shreds it and makes his own. Unluckily for the both of them, the list gets erased and other people get invited.

Although, both the wife and the eccentric millionaire, confess don't know the people invited, the millionaire still offers one million dollars to the people left alive at the end of the night, and if there's only one survivor, the person will get 5 million.

The owner of the house seems terrified to be there, and doesn't know how to leave faster, but unluckily for him, the house's lockdown mechanism gets triggered, and they are locked in, as the windows are covered and sealed shut.

People start dying, and the husband and wife seem to believe is one of them who orchestrated everything, as they each want to take the other one down. But the house seems to be alive, and wants vengeance.

This used to be one of my favorite movies, last night though, I found it way too dark.

The movie has this cool scene with the cars driving to the haunted house, as Marilyn Manson's cover of Sweet Dreams is playing.

I also loved the movie was shot on the color blue, giving it a beautiful look, like the videos of the early '90's.

The actors were fine.

Lisa Loeb and James Marsters have cameos at the beginning of the movie as the News crew.

The visual effects are good.

I don't remember the soundtrack.

The movie is streaming on HBO Max, HBO Max Amazon Channel, and is for rent or sale on Amazon, Apple, Google, Vudu, YouTube.

Rating : Could have been a contender !
