Insurgent is the second installment of the Divergent franchise, and is based on the book of the same name,by Veronica Roth.
The first part of the movie finds Tris, her brother, Four and Peter living with the Amity faction. Tris has nightmares due to the fact she considers herself responsible for her parents' and Will's death.
Jeanine, who orchestrated the Abnegation killing by Dauntless, with the help of Eric,is blaming the Divergents for her actions. She might have ulterior motives for why she seeks out the Divergents,as she found a box in Tris' parents' house, which can be opened only by Divergents who pass the tests of all the factions.
Dauntless come for them at Amity, and Peter betrays them, because it's something he does,so they run. They jump on a moving train trying to escape Eric and his posse, who are on their tracks.
As the train is carrying Factionless steal aways, who outnumber them, and who want to kill them, Four gives them his real name. They take him to his mother who is the leader of the Factionless.
Four's mother wants them to join forces to take Jeanine down.
The movie has a lot of back and forth. They leave Amity,go to Factionless, from Factionless they go to Candor, then back to Factionless, then to Erudite...also, certain characters keep on changing teams without consequences..thing which gets tiresome fast.
I personally enjoyed the movie. It has many annoying gray characters, like Peter, who could be friendly, to pull a 180 on you the next moment; Caleb, who either turns Tris away (in the first movie, when she went to see him), in this one going back to Erudite, as he doesn't like life on the run; and evil ones like Eric, who is pure evil, as he is mad with power, and Jeanine, who, like every tyrant, wants to control everyone while she rules with an iron fist.
Also, we're not in the Matrix, so I didn't understand why the wires descending from the ceiling, in the Divergent trying to open the box scenes, as Tris didn't have holes in her body, and why didn't the needles leave marks and make her bleed?! Also, why were the wires suspending them in the air, and make them move around like in the dream world? It just looked silly! Why were they for? Substances?
The actors were good,so were the visual effects and soundtrack.
The movie received mixed reviews, but Cinema Score audiences still graded the movie an A-.
The movie grossed 297.3 million dollars at the box office, against a budget of 110 million, being considered the highest grossing movie of the franchise.
Rating : Worth a watch !
