Sarah is left by her parents to babysit her baby brother. She is not happy with it, as she feels they go out every weekend, leaving her alone, while she has to stay home.

Because her baby brother keeps on crying, she makes a wish to the Goblin King to come and take him away. The Goblin King grants her wish but she immediately changes her mind, and asks him to bring her brother back.

The Goblin King gets upset with her decision, and tells her that in order to get her baby brother, she must go through the labyrinth around his castle, and then into the castle, where the baby is. She has until midnight.

Sarah goes on this journey by herself and makes new friends who help her along the way.

I personally didn't like this movie, I don't like musicals except for Moulin Rouge and Pitch Perfect. I didn't like the music either, I thought the songs dedicated to the girl were odd, considering she was too young for a grown man to be in love with her.

The visual effects were good, especially for 1986. I found it a bit dark or scary , as the characters were pretty scary for the movie to be for kids. I kept on thinking while the baby was with the goblins that I, as a grown up found them scary, can't imagine what that baby was thinking of.

This is not one of Jennifer Connelly's best roles, as she's one of my favorites and I never saw her in a movie in which she didn't give 100%. Considering she was a teen in this movie and was on one of her first roles, she got better with age.

Rating : Could have been a contender !
