Luckiest girl alive

Year of release : 2022

The movie is based on the 2015 mystery novel of the same name by Jessica Knoll, who also wrote the screenplay.

A column writer, who seems to have everything, the rich beautiful fiance she's about to marry, the perfect job and a boss who likes her, has her life turned upside down, when a documentary maker is asking to interview her for the documentary of the school shooting she witnessed when she was a teenager.

It gets worse,as a writer she went to school with,is accusing her of being part of the shooting.

From the get go,the leading character is unlikeable, because she narrates the story and due to how she thinks about people and how she acts around them or when they're not around, and then placing the blame on others ( for example, there's 2 pieces of pizza left on the plate at a restaurant, her fiance says they should take it to go, and goes to the bathroom. She eats fast the last two pieces ,and when he comes back she spills the drink on the table and blames the waitress-saying she spilled it on the pizza,so she had to throw it away instead of packing it for them),she comes off as rude, mean, unhinged (she starts destroying a cab when thinking of the past). Also, she says she was fat in school, when the actress who plays her wasn't.

She honestly reminded me of Mila's character in American Psycho!

The movie is put together from her life now, when she's all over the place, destroying the relationship she has with her fiance, being also offered her dream job for the New York Times, while the documentary maker is pressing her to comment on past events ,and her life before the school shooting.

Apparently , the first time I watched the movie I didn’t like it, but now I found it Ok.

One problem is, most characters are unlikeable ,starting with the lead who’s lying to people and pretends to be something she’s not, like someone with more achievements that she actually has (she uses her boss’ office to talk to the documentary director, pretending she’s got her job. She also wants him to see her expensive engagement ring, and (ugly) designer purse). These kind of people are so lame! I know a few people like this. I’m sorry to say, but she’s still unlikeable after all she’s gone through because she comes across as shallow and fake.

The boys in school who took advantage of her SPOILERS when she was passed out, and even after when she said No,and then played victim. The one who survived the school sho0ting went as far as to lie she was involved in the sho0ting ,when he knew she saved his life!END OF SPOILERS

Her fiancé who didn’t understand her need to tell her story, and all he could think about was himself and his career.

The lead’s mother, who instead of comforting her when she found out about the r@pe,treated her like she was a wh0re; which is probably the reason why she can’t stand her mother.

The actors were all fine, very natural.

The soundtrack was good.

The movie is a Netflix production, and it streams on the platform.

Rating : Could have been a contender !
