Lamb used to have a perfect life before she had a plane accident which burnt most skin of her body, and k1lled her boyfriend(who was the pilot).
She speaks at her family's church,as the priest thinks she's gonna donate most of the money given to her by the flight company as reparation, to the church, but she actually denounces God. She leaves town, not before telling her audience what she wasn't allowed to do in her conservative town, like show her legs, cut her hair, read popular books,go to college, or listen to the radio.
In Las Vegas she wants to indulge in the sins her church is against, like wearing sparkling outfits, drinking alcohol, and going clubbing. At a club she meets a nice bartender and a singer, who hearing her story, decide to join her the whole evening in town,to make sure nothing bad happens to her.
Through the night, she takes a lot of pills for her condition and she even hurts her skin grafts because she wanted to try ziplining, which she loved.
The movie was funny, and had what Hollywood used to have in their past movies, character growth. I liked the wholesome character, who's morals don't abandon her just because of this trauma she went through, and I also liked the fact she attracted good people in her life, considering where she was,and how people could have taken advantage of her.
Each character we meet has their own story and is its own person. And they are..likeable.
The name of the movie comes from the fact that the Las Vegas Strip is actually Paradise, a town adjacent to Las Vegas.
The movie was written, produced and directed by Diablo Cody, who wrote Juno and Jennifer's Body, and received negative reviews.
The actors were all good, especially Julianne Hough. I loved her hair,by the way. I wouldn't have cut it.
The movie is for free on Hoopla, free with ads on Pluto Tv, 7 days free on Philo, and for rent/ sale on Amazon, AppleTv, Fandango at Home.
Rating : Worth a watch !
