The movie is loosely based on the Korean comic of the same name, by Hyung Min-woo, who was inspired by the computer game "Blood" by Monolith Productions.

Vampires always existed alongside humans. A centuries long war has been waging between the two races, until people with supernatural abilities, given the rank of Priests, were discovered and defeated the vampires.

This war destroyed the world, as it's mostly barren desert. Humanity has been retreated in sheltered cities without sunlight, although vampires fear the light, as they are photosensitive.

After the Priests won the war for humanity, they have been cast aside, as people revere and fear them. The Church rules with an iron fist. The last remaining vampires live in reservations.

Our lead Priest ( his name is never mentioned) is approached by Hicks (the sheriff of the town with people who didn't want to be ruled by the Church) who tells him his brother's family, who lived outside the city walls controlled by the totalitarian Church, was ransacked by vampires, k1lling the wife, badly wounding him and kidnapping their daughter.

Hicks asks him to help him get their daughter, Lucy, back, as he loves her.

The Priest goes to the Church, asking the Monsignor to reinstate his power, who refuses, saying there are no vampires left, probably fearing losing the power the Church holds over the city.

He tells the Priest if he goes against his commands he will incarcerate him.

Priest manages to fight off the soldiers sent for him by the Church and leaves the city with Hicks.

The Church sends 4 Priest after him. One of them, the Priestess, has feelings for him, and doesn't believe he went against the word of the Monsignor. She separates from the others, and goes to the cave one of them was caught and, they believe, was k1lled by the vampires.

Priest finds her there, and together they find the vampires are rebuilding their community, and the queen is alive and well.

Unbeknownst to them, we find out the one doing all the damage, and having kidnapped Priest's nice, is the priest everyone believes to be dead.

I personally enjoyed the movie. I loved the action scenes, and the connections between the characters. I liked the Priestess, and her outfit. I wish there was more between her and the Priest.

Based on the ending I think they wanted to make a sequel.

The vampires in this movie are like some sort of aliens, not human, more animal-like,without eyes as they live underground . They live in a hive ruled by a queen, like a cave inside the earth.

The priests are people with supernatural powers, and we find our lead Priest's powers kicked in when he was older, and he already had a family he had to leave to defend humanity - this clue is important at the end. They wear black garments and have a cross tattooed on their forehead.

The actors were good.

I loved the soundtrack by Christopher Young.

The visual effects were good, as the vampires are entirely computer generated. I also liked the world they created.

The movie received negative reviews, and grossed 78.3 million dollars at the box office, against a budget of 60 million.

Cinema Score audiences graded the movie a C+!

The movie was in the works since 2005, when actor Gerard Butler was supposed to play the lead.
