Jack is a NYPD homicide detective who is married and has a very young mistress. Jack is also a corrupt officer who takes cash bribes doing favors for the mafia boss.

His latest assignment is to reveal the location of a mobster in witness protection.

The witness and the agents protecting him are k1lled by a Russian hitwoman, Mona.

Mona is arrested, and the mobster he works for tells him to k1ll her as he fears she could testify against him and also take over his operation.

Being the h0rndog he is, Mona seduces Jack, and almost k1lls him,but he is saved at the last moment by his colleagues. Him not k1lling Mona doesn't sit well with the crime boss, who amputates one of his toes. Realizing he put his wife and mistress in danger, he gives his wife all the money he got from bribes, and sends her off, and does the same with the mistress,minus the money.

He starts this cat and mouse game with Mona, as they keep on trying to k1ll each other (she loses an arm like it's nothing,to stage her death), and have s3x, their relationship looking insane from the outside, as they are either at each other's throat,trying to k1ll each other,or being together!

I personally hated the movie. Most of it I was on my phone. It felt much longer than it actually is!

The lead is unlikeable, and so are the crime bosses he works for,so there's not much people to root for.

 

Lena Olin plays this insane Russian woman, with an insane Joker laugh. Her voice is also very low and deep..so..She's always half naked,with her legs spread.. when she's not wearing anything on top she's wearing something on the bottom, and the other way around. Most of the time she is with her legs spread and up,in a suit coat and underwear. Her character was very unfeminine, vulgar and unpleasant. Just because she's the head of the Russian mob,it doesn't mean she has to act like a wh0re. She was beautiful, though (I think Lena Olin and Lily Collins look alike;just a random thought).

They could have made her really fun and interesting, sexy and classy,but no, they went with cheap!

Speaking of the 'steamy' relationship between Jack and Mona, there's no s3x scenes,just the starting of some,with them fully clothed! Lena Olin does appear bare chested twice, when she straps a fake arm to her,after she loses the arm.

Speaking of how bad the movie was, it was a flop at the box office, grossing 7 million out of a 10 million budget,and the critics hated it. I wonder why!

Apparently the movie's title is given by a Tom Waits song. Jack's colleagues call him Romeo,due to his relationship with the ladies.

The acting was good. Ron Perlman makes a cameo.

 

The soundtrack was awful, it's full of trumpet or saxophone music which doesn't match.
