The world leaders of the G7 member countries meet at a castle in Germany to talk and compose a joint statement on an unspecified world crisis.

As they talk about their problems, and the world's, they realize nobody else is around, and trying to find out what's happening..get lost in the woods.

I think this movie might be an art house horror allegory on the incompetence of the world leadership and the irrelevance of formalized diplomacy. It had this overall fogginess and zombies (?) stemming from the 1950's horror movies.

The Canadian prime minister was needy, emotional and su1cidal,but also strong and virile, when he comes to his senses and decides to act. The Uk prime minister couldn't commit. The Italian one was helping everyone, at the same time trying not to upset anyone (as if he secretly knows he is the last one on the G7 list). The USA president is old, weak and tired (he falls asleep while drafting a script, dreaming),thinking he might get assass1nated. The French president talks a lot, thinking he knows everything.

All that being said, they don't have any ideas on how to combat whatever they are trying to combat ('cause we don't know)! When they try to put together a joint statement, all they come up with are some buzzwords which imply nothing.

The zombies are supposed to be ancient world leaders who failed their people and were k1lled as a result (they always look like they are vigorously playing with themselves).

SPOILERS At the end, the Canadian prime minister, finally getting his sh!t together, crafts a statement from everything everyone said all evening (which makes no sense), and he reads it to the zombies, while all G7 leaders are wearing capes (as if the G7 are superheroes) . I think the idea is the G7 are a useless bunch who think they stand for something (doing something, while doing nothing at all),basically, the G7 exists to make themselves feel better about themselves .

The movie premiered at the 77th Canes Film Festival, and was praised by the critics.

The movie is labeled a dark comedy, but I don't remember laughing. I laughed at the end, wondering what the h3ll did I watch?!

The actors were great, I loved Cate Blanchett, who reminded me of the European Union president, Ursula von der Leyen, due to the look, the hair, everything.

The soundtrack was good, at one point, when they're crossing the water, they play a song which sounds like it belongs in Lord of the Rings!

Viewer discretion is advised, as the movie contains male nudity.
