The movie was co-written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, being directed by Edgar Wright.The movie was inspired by the ideas the two had for their tv show, Spaced (1999-2001), especially the episode in which Pegg's character dreams about a zombie invasion. The movie is also inspired by the 'Night of the living dead' franchise.

 

Shaun is a 29 year old salesman who lives a dull,uneventful life. He has a girlfriend(who's never met his family) who is sick of always spending the evenings at the local pub,Winchester. Even for their 3 year anniversary,he took her to Winchester.

 

He lives with two roommates,Pete,who is very responsible, and Ed (his best friend),whom nobody likes,because he doesn't have a job,and does nothing all day but play video games.

His girlfriend asks him to book a table somewhere nice,a week after their anniversary,but he forgets. So she breaks up with him.

In the background,we see the world changing,as people tend to get sick,and fall on the street,but everything escapes Shaun,as he doesn't see anything around him.

His family is asking him to visit them,but he doesn't like his step father. When he finally visits his family,he finds out his step father was bitten,and goes to see them after he passes by his girlfriend's place and convinces her and her friends to leave home,due to everyone turning into zombies,and take shelter at the Winchester.

Things don't go as planned,as Ed is a bit of a lose cannon,and the trip to the Winchester is full of zombies,and not just that,but the pub is surrounded by zombies.

The movie was funny and entertaining. It had some ludicrous moments,like when Shaun and Ed throw their records at a zombie.

I liked how it was edited.

I enjoyed the movie,but,I remember liking it more the first time I watched it,back in 2010.

 

The movie was loved by critics and the audiences, grossing 38.7 million dollars against a budget of 6.1 million.It even received 2 BAFTA awards nominations.

 

The actors were great.

The soundtrack was good.
