The movie is known by a few titles, like Shut In, Intruders or Deadly Home.

Anna lives in her parents’ home with her brother who is dying of pancreatic cancer. Anna has agoraphobia, and hasn’t left the house in 10 years, since their father died.

Her brother’s lawyer comes to see Anna about the arrangements regarding his death, making sure Anna is taken care of.

Before dying, her brother tells her that she needs to forgive her father for abusing her as a child, and leave the house. Anna says she’ll never forgive him, and regarding leaving the house..well, Conrad dies, and on the funeral day, although she gets ready, she can’t open the door and leave the house, spending the whole day staring at the door, while the lawyer keeps on calling her to check on her.

Dan is making deliveries, bringing Anna food daily for almost a year. The two get along, and Anna offers him a bag of money she has in the house, hearing that he can’t leave town, although he’d want to. Dan refuses the money.

On the day of the funeral, being obvious she can’t leave the house she decides to make tea. While she does so, she sees 3 men getting out of a car, checking the house, and breaking in.

She hides under the table, and hearing the tea pot making noise, she runs into the kitchen, but doesn’t have time to turn the fire off, and hides in the closet.

Checking the closet door, one of the men sees it leads into a hallway and other rooms.

Hiding in the bedroom, one of the men hears her, and although she runs downstairs, and almost makes it out, she stops in front of the open door.

The one who seems to be in charge, JP, tells her she wasn’t supposed to be home, and asks her where does she keep the money. Another one, Perry, comes back inside with the gasoline can, wanting to set the house on fire. JP tells Perry he’s not k1lling anyone and leaves him with Anna.

While JP and his brother, Vance, look for the money, Perry ties Anna’s ankles with duct tape, and pulls her outside. Anna is so scared, she pees herself.

JP brings her inside, and asks Vance to help her clean up. While Anna is on the bed, unable to move, Vance tells her that they can’t let her go, as she’s seen their faces and knows their names.

Dan is walking in on them, while Vance is on top of her, getting him off her. Dan is asking him what are they doing at her place, and Anna realizes he told them about the money, and runs away. JP and Perry walk in on them, and Perry punches Dan. Perry also tells JP they can’t let Anna go.

 

Because he can’t find Anna, Perry k1lls her bird. Perry ties Dan up, and Vance finds Anna in the bathroom, telling her he’s the least of her worries, so she grabs her hair pin, and st@bs him in the neck. She drags him to the basement, and when the others two climb down, she locks the door, going upstairs to activate a switch which retracts the staircase.

Anna asks Dan if he wanted to rob her during the funeral, but he admits he only told his friend, Vance, about her kind gesture, not knowing it would lead to such things. Anna asks him why is he at her place then, and he tells her he was worried about her, since she didn’t go to the funeral. Asking how did the funeral go, he tells her it was just him, the priest and the lawyer.

Anna takes him to the basement door asking him to jump, to prove he’s not with the robbers. Pushing him down, he dislocates his knee cap in the fall.

Perry pushes Dan’s knee cap back in place, and him and JP start looking around the basement, realizing they are in a serial k1ller’s den.

I personally enjoyed the movie, but I didn’t quite like the ending.

Anna’s brother used to hunt pa3doph1les, bringing them to the basement, after what their father did to her. So, their father affected both their lives in the worst ways possible, making them develop mental problems.

One thing that bothered me was SPOILER There’s a scene in which she hits Perry with a hammer in the head and he’s fine!! END OF SPOILERS

The acting was good, especially from Beth Riesgraf who played Anna, Timothy T. McKinney who played Anna’s brother, Conrad, and Rory Culkin who played Dan.

The soundtrack was good.

The visual effects were good.

The movie has a score of under 5.7 on Metacritic, under 52% on Rotten Tomatoes, and of 5.7 on IMDB.
