Season 1

Episode 1

On a stormy night, the fishermen caught something other than fish in their net. Something that wounded one of them. The local military respond to the distress call, and take the wounded man and whatever they caught.

Ben is a marine biologist who is working with his girlfriend to save sea creatures.

On his way home, one day,he almost hits a naked woman who is walking on the street, seemingly in a state of shock. He takes her home(why do they always do this in movies?!) and calls the doctor.

The woman is acting strange and deploys her siren song on him.

When the doctor shows up,she is nowhere to be found.

Wandering around, she sees a kid playing with his helicopter, and sees the sentence "I am Ryn" on his tv screen. She takes the helicopter.

The strange woman is wandering around town, and seeing a car just like Ben's, gets inside it,saying the same sentence, expecting to be taken home,or to Ben's home,I guess?Just that the man has other ideas in mind,so she k!lls him.

Ben is looking for her around town.

She ends up at the aquarium, where Ben's girlfriend works, and the seals get startled when seeing her, acting aggressive towards her.

Episode 2

Ben joins his friends who go sailing, trying to catch a mermaid. He is trying to make sure they won't catch anything, as he wants to protect them.

Ryn comes back to the shore, and steals the clothes of the same woman who calls the police, after Ryn threw an iron rod at her.

Ben's girlfriend can't reach him.

His girlfriend's father, the sheriff, finds the man Ryn k!lled, and also talks to the woman who's clothes Ryn stole.

Ryn finds her way back to Helen, trying to communicate to her, she's looking for her sister. Helen wants to help her.

Episode 3

Ben tells his girlfriend about Ryn being a mermaid. She decides to help him and Ryn.

Ryn's sister, the mermaid, is experimented on by the military.

Ryn is trying to learn people's ways, and the English language.

Ben and his girlfriend try to learn about her and her kind. They learn she learns very fast, she is very intelligent, and her bone density is heavy.

Episode 4

Ryn's sister manages to escape the lab she's held captive at,and takes human form.

The man she wounded,Ben's friend, uses the opportunity to get out,and finds her on the floor. He helps her ,thinking her a wounded nurse, and they both escape the military compound safely.

Ryn's skin starts showing sings that she needs to get back into the water, but she refuses to leave until they found her sister.

To me these 4 episodes are a mini-series,as they offer closure,SPOILER Ryn finds her sister, and they jump together under the waves, going back to their realm. The end.

The movie doesn't grip me,as it feels generic, and that's about as much as I can take, especially since I read what's coming next, and don't care about watching.

I like Ryn,she's the only ,in my opinion, interesting character, while I hate Helen. Helen cares too much about mermaids, taking their side, like she's one of them.

The actors were fine. I mostly liked the Belgian actress who plays Ryn,I love the way she's acting, especially when she's acting like a cat,I'm guessing mermaid, hissing at people. She was definitely the best, she pretty much carries the series.

The visual effects, when it comes to how the sirens are depicted, looks very CGI,like a cartoon.

The soundtrack was fine.

Siren is for 30 days free on Hulu, for sale on Amazon and Apple.

Rating : Could have been a contender !
