Richard is adamant about his family going camping with him. His teenage daughter doesn't want to go,but he forces her to. Neither does his son, who's dog is missing for a while.
Richard doesn't feel very well, but he is adamant about going camping for 4 days,as he wants to scatter his father's ashes at the camp site they visited when he was a child. Even though, while at the Barrens, a bloody animal collapses in front of the car. Richard says it's hunters, but the animal was gutted.
At the camping site,Richard is not pleased his family came with their cell phones, and turns out he is jealous,so his young wife is not allowed to have male friends.
Also, he's not pleased there are a lot of campers at the camping site, and he decides to take his family deeper into the woods, for alone time.
While at the camping site, a teenager tells a story about a woman who had 13 kids, the last one being with the devil, feasting upon whatever entered the woods they're in. Ironically,at the same time, people and animals are gutted in the area they set camp.
Richard's condition is getting worse, and we find out he was bitten by the missing dog,who had rabies. He keeps on seeing this creature, which is supposed to be the child of the woman with the devil, but we don't know if he's hallucinating or if it's real.
The visual effects were so and so, I didn't quite like the coloring,as it looked more towards a documentary of sorts.
The acting was fine.
The soundtrack was fine, I thought the song with the credits didn't match the vibe of the movie, but ironically the song is about the woman with 13 kids!
You can watch the movie for 7 days free on Starz on The Roku Channel, and with subscription on Starz and Starz on AppleTv Channel.
Rating : Worth a watch !
