Nick Eliot is a 28 year old man who is looking for a place to stay. He finally finds a beautiful guest house that the owners are renting, as they are most of the time away, and they want to have someone to watch over the property. This fits in perfectly with Nick, as he is a journalist who writes mostly from home.
At his new job he gets the task to write about a man who embezzled 2 million dollars .
He gets to meet Adrian, the 14 year old daughter of the family he rents the house from. Adrian is very mature for her age, as she skipped a few grades, and she seems to be flirting with him.
Adrian doesn't seem to have boundaries, as she walks into his place uninvited, when he's taking a shower, and peaks when he puts his clothes on (because although he knows she's in, he doesn't close the door.Who does that?).
At work, he notices his article has been changed, but his boss likes it.
Taking a break from work, one evening, he goes to the Forresters party (the family who rented him the guest house), and Adrian asks him to take her for a ride in his car, as she wants to show him a place, right after he found himself say something along the lines of "if you were 10 years older!".
He does, and Adrian takes him to the pier, where she kisses him.
Nick puts an end to it, and takes her home. He tries to keep his distance from her, but Adrian plays sexy music while tanning in front of his place.
His female co-worker, a photographer he works with on his pieces, starts coming by his place, and Adrian starts getting jealous. She says mean things to her, and goes as far as putting wasps in the ventilator hole of her dark room.
Adrian starts getting aggressive verbally towards Nick, as in, she's telling him things she should tell her boyfriend or female friends.
He goes to the main house looking for her, as he thinks she stole a picture of him as a kid with his grandfather, which she asked him to give her, and he refused. He looks through the house, and her room, and when he finally hears her, he panics and enters her closet. She realizes he's inside, and takes her clothes off in front of it. When he walks out her father is at the door, and he lies he was returning a book to Adrian. His father shows him the carousel he bought her as a kid that she never enjoyed, and Adrian comes up (it's in the attic for some reason). Her father asks her what book did she give Nick, and she doesn't give him away, saying "Wuthering heights".
Nick confronts her later, telling her nothing can be between them, as he's 28 and she's 14. She asks him if he was ever with a v1rgin, and after he paints his car, she writes a vulgar expression on it.
After she sees Cheyenne talk to Nick, Adrian offers to put the harness on her horse for her, and doesn't buckle it properly, so Cheyenne falls and breaks her arm.
Trying to win him over, and date her, and seeing in doesn't work, she starts messing with his life, deleting his computer files and articles. She even goes as far as accusing him of r@pe.
I personally enjoyed the movie,it was entertaining. To be honest I was shocked that a kid could talk like that to a grown up and do those things!
Allegedly it was inspired by real events that the writer / director said happened to him! Apparently the girl the character of Adrian is inspired by, sued him for using her real name,Darian, so they changed the name for tv, although on VHS and DVD apparently the name stayed the same.
The movie received negative reviews, but became a cult classic.
Cinema Score audiences graded it a C+.
It grossed 13.6 million at the box office against a budget of 6 million.
The actors were good. This was Alicia Silverstone's first role, and she was amazing. She was 15 at the time!
The soundtrack was so and so.
The places where they filmed at where beautiful, especially the Forrester house and its guest house.
Viewer discretion is advised, as the movie contains nudity and mature language.
