The Damned is a folk horror story, directed by Thordur Palsson and written by Jamie Hannigan, based on a story by Palsson.

It's the 1800's, and a young widow manages a remote fishing outpost in the Arctic Bay, inherited from her late husband, who lost his life in a shipwreck against the rocks called 'the Teeth'.

The outpost is 3 days away from the nearest village, and the 6 men,Eva and a servant, are low on supplies.

One morning, they see a large ship losing the battle against 'The Teeth', and although most men want to rescue them, Eva and the helmsman, Ragnar, suggest they stay put, as they barely have enough supplies for themselves, resorting to eating the fish bait, to survive, in the harsh Arctic winter.

As a barrel of salt pork meat washes upon the frozen shores, Eva and her men agree to sail for supplies at night. They only discover lamp oil and alcohol, and the desperate survivors, who cling to the rocks.

When they see them, they beg them for help in Basque, and try to jump into their small boat.

Afraid they'll sink them too, they fight them, and even k1ll a few of them. Ragnar is dragged into the water by one of the desperate survivors, and never comes back to the surface.

The next day, the bodies are washed ashore, and the servant warns them of the Nordic folk tales of 'draugr', supernatural zombies. She tells them to bury them in a certain way,so they won't haunt them, but the crew doesn't listen. She even makes small charms she places upon the front door for them to see and stay away.

Burdened with a guilty conscience, Eva finds it hard to sleep, and starts seeing a creature, outside and inside the house.

They all seem to start losing their minds, after they catch a lot of fish which vanishes from the storage. The question is, is it real, or is it all in their heads?

The movie was very beautifully done, the colors were beautiful, so was the cinematography and the landscape. The atmosphere was chilling, the story gripping.

The visual effects were good.

The actors were great.

The soundtrack was beautiful and eerie, matching the visuals to perfection! It felt like we could feel what they were feeling, like we were inside their minds, as the music was unravelling their stories.

The Damned is for rent / sale on Amazon ,AppleTv, Fandango at Home, and in cinemas across the world.
