The hitcher

Year of release : 2007

Run time : 1h23m

Genre : Action / Thriller / Horror

Cast : Sean Bean, Sophia Bush

This movie is a remake of the 1986 The Hitcher movie.Unlike the original,it had a good soundtrack with good artists songs.

Jim comes to pick Grace up from her dorm as they want to visit her friends on the Spring Break . On the road, on a rainy night, they almost hit a man who was standing in the middle of the road. Their car stops and as the guy walks towards them they drive off, uncomfortable with picking up strangers.

Unluckily,a truck leaves the guy at the same gas station they are at, and Jim finds himself saying they almost ran him over. So,the clerk puts them on the spot, telling the stranger they go in the same direction and they should offer him a ride. Embarrassed,they do,and the guy turns out to be a real psychopath.

This hitcher is not as silent and weird as the one in the original, but he makes some rude remarks while in the car,and then tries to kill them.

Warning - the movie has some pretty graphic scenes.

SPOILERS AHEAD :

There are a few scenes which are taken from the original,and are completed,or so to speak,like the scene with the family who offered him a ride,and he k!lled them all,they try to save the man,but he dies;

the truck scene,in this one it's the man who's tied up in between them and not the girl,and we're shown how he's torn in two;

the scene in which he throws the hitcher out of his car, in this one is a team work,as the hitcher grabbed Grace,holding a knife to her eye,and she opens the door as Jim kicks him with his feet.

The acting was good, the music was great, the landscapes, the way it was shot...but it bored me just the same,I think because I need a reason why the k!ller k!lls, k!lling for fun or just because, doesn't do it for me.

The movie is streaming on DirecTv, Starz, Starz Play Amazon Channel, Starz Roku Premium Channel, and is for rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video, Apple iTunes, DIRECTV, Google , Microsoft Store, Redbox, Vudu, YouTube.
