The in crowd

Year of release : 2000

Run time : 1h46m

Genre : Mystery / Thriller

Cast : Lori Heuring, Susan Ward, Matthew Settle

Adrien is reviewed by the mental institution’s committee as her doctor thinks she’s ready to be released. They reluctantly release her, as her doctor vouches for her, and even finds her a job at an East Coast country club. He gives her a few rules, like no dr@gs, no drinks, no leaving the place, because if she effs it up, she goes back to the mental hospital.

At the club she befriends a co-worker who’s been working there for 2 years, who is giving her advice on how to deal with the clients.

Adrien catches the eye of a rich popular girl, Brittany, who all of a sudden invites her everywhere.

Brittany’s friends do look at her weird, as if they know her from somewhere.

One of Brittany’s close friends seems to be jealous of their relationship, and tells her to back off as Brittany is not her friend. Adrien thinks the girl is jealous, and soon someone messes with the girl’s motorcycle.

After the accident, the girl tells Adrien who notices a picture of a woman looking exactly like her when she cleans the pictures around the place, that that is Sandra, Brittany’s sister, who went away, and who was a mean b1tch, and evil to Brittany who hated her for it.

Talking to Sandra’s ex boyfriend, she learns he receives postcards every once in a while from her, from all around the world.

Brittany starts looking around the mental institution, through Adrien’s files, and approaches her doctor, luring him into having s3x with her.

Shortly after, Adrien finds a shoe in one of her colleague’s room (that he says he found on the golf course) which she realizes belonged to Sandra.

Brittany k1lls the doctor and makes it so Adrien is found at the scene and charged for it.

Adrien is trying to tell them she didn’t do it, but she’s put back into the mental institution, as the reason she was there in the first place was because she thought her doctor (the same who vouched for her and found her a job) was her boyfriend and smashed his car window when confronted about it.

This is a movie I watched 20 years ago on HBO, and couldn’t find until now. I remembered it being better, as now it bored me to tears.

I did like the places where they filmed, the clothes. The actors were attractive.

The acting was so and so, as I found it bad from the two leading ladies. In Susan Ward’s case, she could be acting like that because she’s the villain.

I didn’t like the soundtrack, I felt it didn’t match.

The movie received negative reviews from critics and audiences alike (with only 2% from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes and 14 on Metacritic) , and grossed 5.3 million dollars at the box office, against a budget of 24 million, being a flop.
