The movie is a remake of the 2008 French movie,'Tout pour elle' meaning 'Anything for her'.
Lara had a fight with her boss. The next day she worries she might be fired. The police storm her house and arrest her for her boss' murder.
3 years later, her husband and son visit her in prison, and her son refuses to acknowledge her presence.
Her husband is trying to make an appeal, but the lawyer tells him in this kind of cases, it's obvious she did it, and she's never coming out of jail.
Hearing she is stuck in jail for life, Lara tries to k!ll herself.
Her husband,John, starts thinking of alternatives. He starts reading books about prison breaks, and even talks to a man who escaped from prison 7 times! He listens to what the man says, and starts working on a plan to get her out of prison, and run away to a different country.
The movie is good, it follows pretty much everything in the original. One thing that bothered me is the wife has suic!dal tendencies, and she annoys me, as towards the end when he helped her escape, she opened the car door, while he was driving, leaning over ..it's amazing she didn't fall and they didn't have an accident! (only in movies!)
That being said, I liked the relationship the couple had,how they loved each other, and Elizabeth Banks and Russell Crowe had chemistry, really brought that to the screen.
The actors were good, so good, I cried quite a few times.
The soundtrack was good.
The movie received mixed reviews, and grossed 67.5 million dollars against a budget of 30 million.
CinemaScore audiences gave the movie a B+ on an A+ to F scale.
The movie is for free on Plex, free with ads on PlutoTv, and for rent / sale on Amazon, AppleTv, Fandango at Home.
Rating : Worth a watch !
