The Outpost

Year of release : 2019

Run time : 2h3min

Genre : War / Action

Cast : Scott Eastwood, Orlando Bloom, Caleb Landry Jones, Jacob Scipio

The movie is based on the 2012 non-fiction book, "The Outpost : An untold story of American valor" by Jake Tapper, about the Battle of Kamdesh in the Afghanistan war .

The movie is about a small unit of US soldiers, fighting the Taliban in a valley surrounded by the Hindu Kush mountains of Afghanistan,if I’m not mistaken.

I liked the long scenes which felt filmed in one shot, following the actors running, dodging bullets and explosions.

The acting was amazing. Orlando Bloom is amazing, although he only appears for 30 minutes, thing I didn’t expect. Caleb Landry Jones was the best.

I don’t like war movies,I watched this because Jacob Scipio is one of my newest favorite actors, and he was amazing! But,the movie did not bore me,and by the time his character died,I was involved in the movie,I wanted to know what would become of them.

The movie received positive reviews from critics, praising the battle sequences and the respectful way the soldiers were depicted.

Although it grossed 2.3 million dollars against a budget of 5 million, the movie was the top rented movie of iTunes Store and FandangoNow in 2020, and had the best movie debut in the Screen Media history!

Rating : It's so money !
