The movie opens with detective Frank Shaw listening to Jazz music and the sounds of the city, letting the audience know how important sound is to him.

In a work related accident, the same day, he is hit by a car ( I always wondered if it was his colleague who did it) while chasing after a bad guy.

More than a year later, we find out he can't hear anymore, and his hearing went from 70% after the accident, to 30 %, and chances were, he was gonna lose it entirely.

His daughter learnt sing language and is trying to make him learn it too, in order to be able to communicate, but he refuses to believe he'll ever need it.

His former colleague is asking him to help him with a deaf woman, a witness in a case.

Our lead accepts, and while driving away from her home (a building which is being renovated, the residents pushed out, in order to be turned into a rich people residence), he realizes he left his phone at her place.

Going back, he sees some men are there trying to k1ll her, making it look like an overdose.

He saves her at the last moment, and realizes that police officers are involved, as they chase after them in the empty building.

I personally liked the movie, I liked the idea, the way it was shot.. but I felt that someone in that situation (being deaf and chased after) would have acted more careful, because it seemed they kept on making noise, like slamming the doors.

One thing I liked about the movie is that it makes you think of the things we take for granted, like hearing,seeing,etc..things we forget how lucky we are to have.

I also would have liked to have seen what happened to the bad guys who were all police. Were they caught? If so, what was the punishment?

The acting was good. Sandra Mae Frank who plays Ava, the deaf woman Frank protects, is deaf in real life , and I thought she was really good in this movie. I wished the creators would have asked her what's like not to hear , so they'd know what sounds to put on the screen when her character and Frank were on, so we'd feel what they feel,to understand their state.

The soundtrack was good, but..the music is always on,even when the two leads who can't hear are on screen! It would have been better if the movie was silent when they were on the screen, or we could have just heard the sounds they are making,or a ringing in the ears..

It would have been great if we could have heard as much as the lead did, the less he heard the less we heard. It would have been more effective, it would have been like being in his head, and understand what the character is going through better.

Instead we got them always slamming the doors for some unknown reason, although they are followed! Shouldn't they have tried to be quiet because they don't know how loud the noise they make is?!

The movie is 30 days free on Amazon Prime Video, and for rent / sale on AppleTv, Fandango at Home, and you can buy tickets on Fandango cinema.

Rating : Worth a watch !
