The tv series are based on the 1947 short story 'Zero Hour' by Ray Bradbury.

Episode 1

Harper,a little girl,has an imaginary friend,Drill,whom she says talks to her through the lights,and who asks her to play a game,a game which leads to her mother falling from the tree house, ending up in a coma.

FBI child specialist,special agent Claire Bennigan,is asked to investigate the case. This leads to her finding out about another case of a kid with the same imaginary friend,Drill,who blew up someone's office.

Claire is given a partner, and although reluctant at first,she starts investigating the case,as this is connected to the disappearance of her husband,whom everybody believes dead.

Episode 2

Claire's son,who can't hear due to a disease he had three years before,is now friends with Drill,and is keeping the fact Drill cured his hearing,a secret from his mother and grandmother,as he is now loyal to Drill.

 

John Doe is somehow connected to this entity ,Drill,as it hit his plane when it came to earth. He can tell what's about to happen next,as he has these deja vu moments,and is always one step behind Drill. He tattoos his body with the symbols he sees in his visions,so he won't forget,and is tracing Drill's movements.

Episode 3

Wes Lawrence, a high-ranking Defense Department operative with close ties to the President, and Claire's former lover ( that she cheated on her husband with,and the reason her husband took the job when he was hit by Drill),starts having problems with his daughter,Minx,too,as she talks about this imaginary friend, Drill,who makes her do things.

He starts having problems with the Department of Defense,as his daughter,with Drill's help,accessed his secret files.

Minx is taken to therapy,and she refuses to talk to Drill.

John Doe is taking the doctor who treated him, hostage,in an attempt to go to the place he keeps on receiving visions about.

 

Episode 4

 

In between episodes Minx started doing Drill's bidding again,and now is at Claire's place,asking her son to take a long trip,giving him a list of instructions Drill made.

Claire's son leaves home,and heads towards a power plant.

John Doe seems to be guided and helped by a higher power. Once he arrives at the power plant he asks the doctor he took hostage to k1ll him if he does anything wrong. The police come and take them both into custody.

Wes seems to still have feelings for Claire.

Claire's son ends up in one of the cooling pipes of the power plant,the ones working there want to flood in order to stop the power plant from exploding (they say its magnitude is of four Hiroshima's).

Episode 5

Drill absorbed the nuclear meltdown of the power plant,and Claire,her son and husband,whom we know as John Doe,are taken into custody,as they are tested for radiation. She finds out her son can hear and speak again. He tells her Drill is a voice in his head.

 

Wes questions Sean aka John Doe,who still can't remember anything about himself or anything else.

Drill has another kid under its spell.

Wes loves his wife now (rolling my eyes).

Drill's agenda is starting to take shape,as the kids' parents,all work in the government,and apparently it's asking kids now,to call their parents at the right time,when the leads talk around their parents,to give them ideas to do its bidding.

Episode 6

Wes took the alien rock from Mali to the USA.

Minx is spying on her father to report to Drill.

Claire tells Wes Drill is a puppet master who is always two steps ahead,making them do its bidding.

Claire comes up with the idea to bring together all the kids,to find out what Drill wants.

 

 

Episode 7

Sean remembers who he is after he touches the meteor.

Sean is imprisoned,as the government want him to be their lab rat.

The president's daughter is Drill's new friend.

The president doesn't want to destroy the meteor,he wants to study it.

Lena has an amazing idea,to talk to Drill.

Episode 8

Claire helps Sean escape imprisonment,not before Sean blows the meteor up.

Drill tells Lena to k1ll someone if she wants it to leave Minx alone.

Minx is still lying to her parents,and doing Drill's bidding,like getting on the rooftop to get an imaginary cat,in order to scare her mother who refused to k1ll someone.

Claire finds out Drill had a friend back in 1982,and she and Sean go to his place to investigate.

 

 

Episode 9

Lena gets away with murder,as her husband works for the government.

We see what happened to Thomas and his brother.

The doctor hates Sean now,after she was taking his side,at the power plant.

Thomas was brought to the hospital she works at,as there's only one hospital in DC,and she's the best doctor,good at everything,I guess(eye roll).

Trying to save Thomas' life, they move him to a side of the hospital which is under construction. A little girl there and her brother do Drill's bidding. The kids are at this point, annoying villains.

 

 

Episode 10

Drill contacts a new kid,who looks 14,who at first is scared of it. Then does its bidding.

Lena takes Minx (what a stupid name!) on a cruise,in order to keep her away from Drill,but then changes her mind,as one does in tv series,to prolong its existence. Lena to me is a very obnoxious character,I'm happy she's gone.

They find out Drill is getting weaker.

Claire and her peers try to capture Drill,by leading it to an abandoned school,by blacking out the city.

 

Episode 11

We deal with Lena's husband at the funeral, playing the misunderstood lonely husband,sending Claire away when she comes to the funeral with her family to show their support and offer their condolences.

The kids get sick,they have headaches and fever, and are rounded up and put in a facility, as the government figure out the ones in contact with Drill have something inside their brain, like a genetic tracking device. They find out there are more kids than they thought connected to Drill.

 

Claire is interrogating the kids trying to find out which one is now possessed by Drill. My guess is, the -only- one who,when interrogated, looks vacant, expressionless.

Episode 12

Apparently as Drill gets weaker,the kids get sick.

Drill k1lled the doctor in the previous episode.

They think Drill inhabits the body of a kid.

Drill needs a decoy,so Minx is it.

 

Wes is trying to help his daughter,but she seems to like to work against her own interests,as in, to help Drill to her detriment.

The kids are not to be trusted,they never were,they are liars and manipulators.

Episode 13

The president's daughter is Drill ( the -only- one who in interrogation looked vacant),and sends a signal with a coded message at the press conference.

Drill commits suicide for the cause,something it tells Claire her side should have done when they captured it,or more like,had it cornered.

The kids seem to be under Drill's mind control,as they keep on coming in and out of it,acting like they hate Drill,then trying to con their parents,putting sleeping pills in their wine,and working with the kidnappers against them.

Jessup's ex wife comes back into his life,but only to keep him away from the investigation,as she is one of the first group of kids under mind control,from 1982.

 

 

In these series the kids are the villains,as they seem unfazed by what they are doing to their parents. For example,Harper,after what she's doing to her mother,who ends up in a coma,she's completely unfazed, she's not sad, she actually still helps Drill,so Drill would bring her mother back,as if it wasn't Drill who hurt her mother in the first place. I understand they are kids,but there's no way,they can't understand when they do something wrong,hurting their own parents to the point they end up in the hospital or dead,as these are not 3-4 year olds,to not understand the consequences of their actions!

They trust this thing they can't see,saying it's gonna be mad if they keep secrets from it,but they are not afraid of their parents being mad about the same thing!

In the first episode we see one of the kids who can hear Drill playing with another one,and when that one hears Drill,he freaks out and leaves. Then the kid is told by Drill, the kid is changing or turning,that's why he is afraid of it. I think Drill needs kids who have a certain mental state,feeble minded,if you will. Drill usually chooses kids who's parents are fighting,are separated, or one of their parents is dead,or kids who want their sibling or parent to get better from some disease they have,so kids with problems,mental issues, who can be easily manipulated.

For example,the group from 1982,still believe in Drill and its plans,thinking it's Ok for the aliens to colonize and invade,for it would make it a better world. They also look crazy and plastic. At first I thought they were aliens.

The acting is good, I love how Lily Rabe is acting. There's a scene in which she realizes her husband is alive,and I just love her reaction. She really carries the movie, I think she's too good for this movie.

The visual effects are good,but could have been better.

 

The soundtrack is good.

The series received positive reviews from critics.
